New Age Lies vs Biblical Truth

The New Age really isn’t new at all - ‘you can know all things’… that lie comes directly from the Garden of Eden.

“for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.” Genesis 3:5
New Agers say things like “you control your own reality, you are the creator of your life”, and “you are more than enough”.
I know this because I was one of them.
My eyes were blinded. I believed this existence was something I'd agreed to ‘before coming here’. I believed I'd chosen to be here at this time to help the world ascend to ‘a higher vibration, the fifth dimension.’
Some people in the New Age do talk about Jesus, but only that He was an example for us to follow, or that He was an ascended master, a teacher, a new age guru… but not the Saviour of the world.
“Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son." - 1 John 2:22
In fact, sin wasn’t spoken about in the New Age Movement either, although I do remember hearing that the dark in us is something we can transmute. Some may know this as ‘Shadow Work’.
What I didn’t yet know, was that we are all sinners in desperate need of a Saviour.
I had no understanding, until I picked up the Bible, that we ourselves cannot turn our darkness into light. We can’t make ourselves any less dirty. No amount of ‘shadow work’ can make us any less sinful. The book of Isaiah says, even our good works are as filthy rags.
We need Jesus Christ to wash us white as snow, to forgive us for our sins and to reconcile us back to God. Jesus is the only mediator between God and men. Salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone.

False Spiritual Practises
During my days in the New Age, I was also very much into ‘The Law of Attraction’, the idea that ‘what you put out, the ‘universe’ will give back to you.’ At the time, I believed it worked. But just because you’re seeing results from something, doesn’t mean that it’s good.
I also saw repeated ‘angel numbers’ on clocks, when I'd pause a video and it would stop on a specific ‘sequence’ and on multiple number plates. At the time I thought these 'signs' were amazing, but since I got saved, God opened my eyes to these deceptions. I now know these false phenomena are used by the enemy to deceive people and draw them away from the True healer, Jesus Christ.
I remember some of the objects I owned when I was in the New Age. Crystals I believed had the ‘power’ to heal me, an ‘angel number’ book, and a tarot card deck, which I obtained so I could know what the so-called ‘spirit guides’ wanted to communicate to me at that time. I watched videos of New Agers doing ‘reiki’ which I believed was healing me in some way.
I spoke to, what I believed, were my ‘spirit guides’ regularly, and did various meditations to ‘connect with’ what I thought were angelic beings. I saw a medium, paid a witch to do spells over me and spent hundreds of pounds of my parents money on a psychic app I used regularly, because I really believed it was the solution to my struggles.
But do you want to know the outcome? Absolutely NONE of those things ever gave me the peace, the rest and comfort that Jesus Christ has given me.
In truth, we won’t find the healing our soul longs for in anything except for the Healer Himself.
“Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.” Leviticus 19:31
Over time, I learned the ‘beings’ I believed I was talking to and connecting with, weren’t ‘of the light’ but were actually demons. The Bible explains this, when it says Satan masquerades as an angel of light.
How else would he be able to fool people with these things?
On the surface, so much of it: spirit guides, meditations to connect with ‘angelic beings’, angel numbers, ‘healing’ crystals not only seem harmless, but good.
“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:14
I was drawn to the New Age because it appeared to promise ‘happiness, peace and healing’, but all it led me to was despair, deception and bondage.

Finding True Healing
Now I know, true healing is only found in Jesus Christ. Nothing and nobody comes even slightly close to Him. He gives us a peace that surpasses all human understanding and a joy which isn't of this world.
What He offers cannot be found in anything else.
He is the source of peace, hope, joy and rest for our souls.
His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
He fills the void inside of you.
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
Why are we Separated from God?
We are separated from God because of our sin. Jesus, who was the perfect sacrifice for us all, died for our sins so that anyone who repents and believes the Gospel would be forgiven and reconciled to God. When we get saved, God gives us a new heart and His Holy Spirit. We are made a new creature in Christ. God enables us to walk in a way that is pleasing to Him.
"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." Il Corinthians 5:21
"For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures," I Corinthians 15:3-4
Becoming a Christian doesn’t mean we'll have a life without trials, in fact, Jesus tells us we will.
But He is the prince of peace, and as long as we know Jesus, we'll have His perfect peace, even in our suffering.
The promise we do have as Christians, is that we will never be alone. We can now draw from God’s strength when we are weak. In fact, in our weakness His power is made perfect. It's in our weakness we can learn to fully rely on God and not on ourselves.
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Final Word Jesus has saved me so many times:
When I’ve had sleep paralysis on multiple occasions, I prayed to Jesus and He made it stop.
When I've felt afraid, He calmed my soul.
When I've needed comfort, He provided it.
When I've needed direction, and if it wasn’t for that direction, I could have gone down a path that was dangerous.
And of course when I repented and believed the Gospel and God gave me a brand new heart and His Holy Spirit.
If you seek God with your whole heart, you will find Him.
I started to read the Bible (on the Bible app) and watch people’s testimonies, who came to Jesus from the New Age, and in the middle of watching one I felt so convicted that I called out to God and apologised to Him for all the sins I had committed. I put my faith in Jesus Christ’s perfect sacrifice for the forgiveness of my sins and trusted in Him alone for my salvation. It was the best decision I have ever made.
“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6b
Nothing is impossible for God. No one is too ‘far gone’ or too ‘sinful’ for Jesus to save. We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but God, who is rich in mercy justifies ALL who put their faith in the Gospel. Some helpful resources:
