“Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’ Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. The LORD of hosts, Him you shall hallow; Let Him be your fear, And let Him be your dread. - Isaiah 8:12-13

While there are clearly real political “conspiracies” in this fallen world, some of these rabbit holes can become endless and distracting.

During my time in the truth movement, this actually became worse; the mindset began to elevate the agenda of the Freemasons, Jesuits, Illuminati etc above the Sovereign Will and ordinance of Almighty God. It can get to the point where man's intentions can become much too elevated and this is a leaning from which I had to gradually repent myself and seek more balance.

That said, knowing these things is useful for discernment and apologetics, to know and understand the culture, social manipulation, false religion and speak into it, for the purpose of evangelism and marking out spiritual deception.

But there is a line.

The Bible says “the Lord laughs” at their plans. He is not surprised or caught off guard by their schemes.

Sometimes He allows these events to unfold, even as a form of judgment. But in the end they will perish in their own agenda and the Lord Jesus Christ will have the last say.

He will destroy the works of the Antichrist, the social manipulators, the beast, the harlot, and return in power and great glory.

In short, this subject is about more than those agendas alone.

It's about Bible prophecy, God's sovereign judgments on a world that rejects Him, and the final call of redemption in the last days. If we are to say anything effective about the times we are in, it must be for the purpose of sharing the good news about Jesus.

“Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’ Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy, Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled. - Isaiah 8:12

In the online truth movement, there are various groups who have gradually adopted a “hyper-conspiracy” mindset. It’s gone beyond a healthy rationale, apologetics or discernment, and into an extreme.

But is this Biblical? And what are the pitfalls of this?

Online truth movement's deep rabbit holes can be unhealthy and distracting

In Isaiah 8:12, God tells his people (Judah) not to call every fearful situation a "conspiracy" or fear what the surrounding nations fear; instead, they should revere and fear the Lord of Hosts Himself, making Him their ultimate focus and dread, putting earthly threats into perspective.

The verse serves as a call to trust God's sovereignty and holiness above worldly anxieties, especially during times of war and political instability, as described in the preceding verses.

Here is a helpful overview of the message:

Don't Panic: Avoid labelling every troubling event as a conspiracy or alliance (though there are some).

Don't Fear Others: Do not adopt the fear or dread that paralyzes others.

Fear God: Instead, sanctify (honour as holy) the Lord Almighty; He is who you should fear and dread.

The passage occurs when Israel and Syria threatened Judah, and King Ahaz was tempted to rely on Assyria. God warned against trusting human alliances and instead urged reliance on Him.

In essence, the verse contrasts misplaced fear (of human threats) with righteous fear (of God), suggesting that fearing God puts all other fears in their proper place.

The spirit of “hyper-conspiracy” is damaging and unhealthy.

This is a lesson I’ve learned in a decade of creating content online. For believers, the online truth movement is a mission field. Not, ultimately, a home.

Large swathes of the truth movement reject the Gospel (often instead for New Age fables or communitarian philosophies) and ever learn, but never come to a knowledge of the truth (2 Tim 3:7)

Sadly the deception online is rife, and dangerous thinking patterns continue to worsen. If folks in these movements don’t turn to the Gospel of Christ, they will end up being deceived by the beast, as with anyone else in the world, but perhaps through a different path to get there.

The Bible makes it clear that all whose names are not written in the Lambs book of life will worship the beast (Rev 13:8)

There is no special elite 'Gnostic club' to elevate one’s mind beyond the deceptions of the world, outside of the simple, yet all-powerful, Gospel of Jesus Christ. Only He is true wisdom & discernment, salvation, forgiveness, redemption and eternal life.

Repent and believe the Gospel to be saved, be renewed of the heart and mind.

Then, and only then, we will have “eyes to see” and “ears to hear”, given to us by the Spirit of God in Christ Jesus.
